Further information:
This unusual roller was built to the order of Oxford City. It was used for light patching work on the roads and alleyways of the city, frequently hauling a tar boiler from site to site. In 1938 the roller was replaced by diesel and was sold to J. Allen of Cowley. It then moved to Taylor Bros of Essex. They used it for trench re-instatement and site work on the nearby airfields during the last war. Purchased by the present owners in 1971 and totally rebuilt.
