Further information:
Built to the order of Leiden Fire Brigade by the company of Bikkers & Zn of Rotterdam. The engine was actually used at the famous city hall fire in Leiden at a temperature of –24 ºC! Restoration took around 3500 hours and lasted from 1985 until the spring of 1991. Unique to this engine is the use of a petroleum burner to raise steam in the boiler. After the inner boiler, including chimney and watertubes were found to be of insufficient thickness, it was decided to rebuild the boiler in 1996-97. Owned and operated by The Historic Fire Engine Society, The Hague, Netherlands.
