Plans are coming together well for this years Steam & Country Fayre at Old Warden Park, the 50th Annual Rally organised by our Society. There is a wide range of new exhibits in all sections and even a selection of engines from our first event at Woburn Park back in 1957.
New to the Steam Section this year are Burrell Road Locomotive 'The President' fresh out from a complete rebuild, which will be joined by Burrell Crane Engine 'Old Tim', out on its second full season after similar work and looking great in its original livery. This year we welcome a selection of Foster Showman's engines to the Fairground with 'Victorious' being the largest. Coming back this year is Burrell 'Princess Marina' which will no doubt be hard at work powering a ride or two! Down in the ploughing field will be the huge Fowler Z7's of Michael Davies and David Atkins making their first appearance at the event. Engines this year are coming from as far north as Scotland, including the Barrack family and Gary Thompson from Aberdeen, and Gary Scott from Elgin with his ex Aberdeen Harbour Sentinel DG6.
In the working area Peter Wheeler will be exhibiting his Ruston Bucyrus 10RB Dragline for its first outing, with work still underway to get it ready in time. There will be a display this year of members ongoing projects, with everything from the Worbey family's Garrett Overtype Wagon rebuild, to a living van rebuild.
Other attractions will include David Seamark's sheepdog display, a Falconry display by the English School of Falconry, and a flying display by The Shuttleworth Collection each day. Once again entrance includes free admisson to the Shuttlworth Collection, the Bird of Prey Centre and the Swiss Gardens, making this a great value for money day out for all ages.
