Bedfordshire Steam & Country Fayre 2011

Special Theme, The Iron Maiden Film

Iron Maiden nameplate

Many will remember the 1962 British Film “The Iron Maiden”. Filmed in the local area, and involving several engines and characters from our Society, the film has stood the test of time in the steam world and is fondly discussed.

At the 2011 Bedfordshire Steam & Country Fayre, a display was bought together as a tribute to our Founder and President, the late John Crawley who was the Technical Advisor to the film and starred as a female double in many scenes.

The photographs on this page are here, by kind permission of the Crawley Family, and John Rhodes who shot many behind the scenes colour shots as he worked as a sound engineer on the film, has put together the video shown here.

”I think the film was technically acceptable, it was certainly great fun assisting with the making of it, for a nicer bunch of people would be hard to find”  John Crawley
